Today is World soil day and the soil is the most important element of all the animals in the world. Without soil we never can think of a prosperous and suitable life. Let us first be known why soil is important. The most important is the food we eat without a good soil our farmers not able to grow vegetables, fruits etc. Soil also contains many nutrients and minerals which is essential for plants as they absorb these nutrients for their growth. Soil also contains humus(upper most layer) which is used as a manure by farmers. Soil also be important because it enhance the quality of the land/plain. These are the only few necessary uses of soil. There are definitely more and more. Soil retain water. It is also the bases of groundwater
What are the threats to soil?
In one word the most dangerous threat to soil in present day are the humans. We build factories, industries, homes, schools, offices. We do not stop at this moment but drains the contaminated water of these areas in soil which make the soil as a poison. We build all these buildings, not give the place of water to reach into the soil, continuously depleting the ground water level and then we shout at the government “water shortage, water shortage”. The problem is only us or nothing in the world. We should change ourselves or can become the reason of extinction of life from the planet.
What can we do?
We have to do nothing but only not disturbing the environment. If we want to build buildings in good quality soil areas then we should plant as much as trees as it can cover the double land that we cutted to build buildings. Because trees roots holds the soil and nourishes it with minerals. There is a symbiotic relationship between them.
Sadhguru’s SAVE SOIL initiative is one which conserves the soil. We and the government work combinededly to save the soil. “SAVE SOIL, SAVE LIFE.
